Razor burn usually doesn’t come from shaving itself. It comes from shaving the wrong way.
If your face feels hot, tight, or raw after a shave, there’s a good chance one of these common mistakes is the reason.

And if you want the smoothest finish with the least irritation, remember: we’re the only walk-in barbershop in Venice that offers a classic hot lather shave.
1) Using too much pressure
A razor should glide, not scrape.
If you’re pressing hard, you’re removing more than hair. You’re irritating skin.
2) Shaving with a dull blade
If the blade tugs, it’s done.
A dull blade forces extra passes, and extra passes are one of the fastest ways to end up with razor burn.
3) Skipping prep
Dry shaving or rushing into it is asking for trouble.
Use heat first, then warm lather, and give it a little time to soften the beard.
4) Shaving against the grain on the neck
This is one of the biggest causes of irritation.
For most men, the neck does better with the grain on the first pass and across the grain only if needed.
5) Using harsh aftershave
That strong burn after shaving isn’t a sign of success.
A harsh alcohol splash can dry out skin and make irritation worse, especially on the neck.
The better way to shave
If you want fewer problems:
- use heat first
- use warm lather
- use a sharp blade
- shave with the grain on the neck
- keep pressure light
- finish with simple aftercare
